I had the opportunity to participate in a event organised by OKDiario on the topic of “Innovation and New Technologies as Drivers of Growth and Development.”, together with colleagues from CEU San Pablo and the startup “Carga tu coche”.
We discussed 3 essential factors for fostering technological innovation in time of energy transition:
- Innovation and AI with purpose: technology serves as a crucial driver for business growth and plays a central role in accelerating the energy transition. Through our new Digital plan, Cepsa has initiated 150 projects across 5 hubs, with a strong focus on “green digital” initiatives, aimed at empowering both their customers and employees in the journey towards energy transition and decarbonisation.
- Digital talent… and shared purpose: I emphasized the critical importance of attracting, retaining, and nurturing talent. Sharing a positive goal, as the decarbonisation journey on our society, helps to attract talent and motivate agile teams. At Cepsa, we have also invested in internal training, benefiting over 1,600 employees, and have created specialized digital communities to ensure we motivate top talent.
- Collaboration between companies and startups: Collaboration between companies and startups was another key theme of the event. It is not enough to implement agile ways of working across the organization. We understand that working closely in open innovation ecosystems with startups is essential to provoke meaningful changes and innovations. I mentioned our ongoing search for more than 100 innovation agents to collaborate on transformative projects, such as green hydrogen plants and climate tech projects.
In summary, the event underscored the fact that technological innovation hinges on sharing a positive vision, nurturing talent, fostering collaboration, and maintaining a strong relationship between established companies and startups to drive growth and development, especially in the context of ongoing technological transformation and the shift towards more sustainable energy sources.
